However, the 20th century brought a deep disconnection from nature. The consolidation of the petrochemical industry after World War II changed the rules of the game. In pursuit of mass, economical production, modern cosmetics replaced ancestral ingredients with petroleum derivatives, polymers, and paraffins. Priority was given to cheap ingredients that were eternal on the shelf but alien to our biology.
At the same time, the ideology of light products and the demonization of saturated fats ended up banishing the most valuable natural ingredients. But What Is Tallow And Why Does It Work?
Tallow is the term used for ruminant animal fat once it has been rendered and purified. It is essential that it comes from suet, the internal fat surrounding the animal's organs, as it is the richest in nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.
Not all purification processes are equal; the final quality depends entirely on the method used to process the raw material. And the reality is that there is no standard for rendering tallow; there are many techniques, some more aggressive than others, including bleaching the resulting fat to give it a more cosmetic appearance.
